In the performance – " Old Wives’ Tales" Tamar Raban and Ensemble 209 created a sensual artistic environment steeped in imagination and based on fairytales, folklore and popular stories from around the world – primarily Grimm tales, Italian fables, Irish legends and Jewish lore. Interwoven among of these was a connecting thread of female figures – their sexual impulses, fears, plots, strengths and social roles. Viewers were exposed to a semi-real, semi-fantastical world – a kind of cinematic screen that transformed into a 3-dimensional, busy and hectic space of consciousness. Along with Tamar Raban, professional actors and performers worked together with disabled participants from the AKIM Foundation, including a child, a chocolatier, a pastry chef and a musician. They told their stories with texts, games and actions, as well as baked goods and chocolate making. Together they created an expanded community, a social microcosms that presents their stories from unusual avenues. The audience, involved every step of the way, became a part of this sensual experience and was also invited to try the sweet products it produced.
